Well, another year has come and gone and we've bid farewell to 2017.
I love New Years. I love toasting a year gone by and looking forward to a new year ahead. I love the possibilities and promise that a new year holds and that there is a definitive end and beginning. Its a poetic thing, endings and beginnings, and for me, New Years is the most poetic of them all.
There have been years where I've barely made it to the end, dragging my very bruised and bloody self across the threshold and into a new year, there have been years that I have truly been sad to leave behind, and everything in between. 2017 was one of those in between years, though it rounded out on a pretty exciting note these last few months, it wasn't without its challenges.
We've spent a wonderful year of excitement in planning and executing our move to Bahrain, we've said "see you later" to old friends and hello to new ones, ventured to new places, we've made big changes and little changes, welcomed new life into our big families--our hearts expanding to include lots of new little boys, tasted many a wonderful thing, hugged Princesses and a talking Mouse, watched fireworks dance in Stella's eyes, shed a lot of tears in joy and sorrow, and wrapped our arms around each other and our favorite people. It has been a year of adventure and newness and getting out of our comfort zones, of hello's and goodbyes, and I am so very excited to see what 2018 has in store for us!
