Burj Khalifa

With Michelle leaving soon we thought that Zanzibar would be our last trip together for a while... but, when Michelle comes up with adventurous ideas, I'm game! She had been to Dubai but had never been up into the Burj Khalifa and wanted to try and do high tea there for a day before she left. Plane tickets weren't terribly expensive and its only an hour flight to Dubai so, off we went!

Our flight left around 8am and we made it to the Armani hotel (the entry point for high tea) with plenty of time to spare before our booking.

The Burj Khalifa was built in the early 2000's and is the tallest building in the world. It stands at one 828 meters (2716.5 feet) and more than 160 stories. It holds a lot of other records as well; like highest occupied floor in the world, highest observation deck in the world, and more. It's massively tall.

Before we made it to floor 122 (the highest you can go unless you are in residence) we got to ride the worlds fastest elevator.  It goes 10 meters every second and it is SO fast!! And 122 floors is incredibly high. My ears popped a lot- though on the way down they popped more- 7 times to be exact!

Our Table... we splurged for the window seat... not worth it. We were, what felt like, inches from the sun and it was so hot. Cool view, but it was bright and felt like we were under a broiler.

The view looking down at our table.

Our amuse bouche... a leek and potato foam with a greens leaf and bacon dust

The sandwich course...
Top row left to right- salmon pinwheel with caviar, egg salad, chicken salad on tomato bread
Bottom row left to right- cucumber sandwich, lobster roll on an eclair, tart with fish roe caviar and basil caviar

My main- sea scallops and cauliflower puree

Tea! (I had an earl grey)

The Dessert and scone selection. Lots of different cakes and tarts and some of the worst scones I've ever had... the scone lover in me cringed.

Sorry Michelle.. I had to document this! We were delirious from heat and free flowing sparkling wine!

Our last drinks... of course I got the passionfruit drink!

Michelles friend Bethany, Michelle, and Me!

Outside...

We headed to the Dubai mall and walked around a bit killing time before our flight and then we headed to the airport and back to Bahrain. It was a whirlwind of a day but super fun and, again, I'm glad I said "yes"!
