The first storm... of many!
Lumee is totally freaked out and, at the same time, fascinated with the storms. She just sits in the window watching until a clap of thunder and then she runs to one of us and then back again.
This picture my friend Michelle took right before a massive thunderstorm rolled in. And if you think all that sand and dirt was washed out of the air and onto the ground, you'd be right!
I got a flash of lightening and a clap of thunder on video! The thunder is so crazy- its extremely loud and sort of crackly.
Water pouring off the roof...
And, because Bahrain doesn't normally get this much rainfall, it floods. A lot.
The parking lots and dirt lots are just lakes.
This was an epic sand storm that was quickly followed with more rain. By the way, this photo was taken at 1pm and it was so dark the street lights came on!
Flooding near our house... and this isn't even bad! There are some areas of Bahrain that are insanely flooded... as in, people swimming in the streets (gag) or using boats or giant floats in the streets! It is wild!
This has been an ongoing thing for over a week now and while I absolutely love a good storm, its extremely weird to be in a place where the norm is hot and hazy and have thunder and lightening crackling all around you and rain pouring down like you're in the south in a summer storm. It feels wrong in so many ways!
