Mother's Day

I got super lucky this year and got to celebrate Mother's Day with my mom. When they were originally planning their trip Dad talked about leaving on the 11th and I bullied him into changing their dates so she could be here for Mother's Day!

Christopher had to work so I got up and fixed breakfast for everyone and Stella gave me my note- we have a journal that she writes in every Mother's Day and Father's Day so we can keep her drawings and notes all together instead of having to keep up with cards every year. Its one of my favorite things we started with her and I look forward to it every year!

We piddled around the house and walked around City Centre (and Dad bought more dates... he's addicted!) and then headed home to relax and then get dolled up for dinner.

Once Christopher got home from work we headed out to our second Iftar at the Sofitel! The Sofitel is one of our favorite brunch spots- its location on the island makes you feel like you're not on Bahrain any more and its peaceful and quiet and the beach is just gorgeous. The interior of the hotel is done up slightly less modern and more Middle Eastern-y which we love as well so I knew I wanted to experience their Iftar!

Their Iftar is held in a tent outdoors (air conditioned, mind you) right on the water

The entrance of the tent- it was gorgeous with all the twinkling lights like stars

The spread was enormous!

Dessert table

Dates and more desserts

Dessert plate take one....lol

After we ate Mom and I got our Mothers Day gifts. Stella picked out earrings for Noni and a bracelet for me

And she and Christopher picked out this awesome smart watch from Fossil that tracks my steps and sleep but is a little fancier than your average Fitbit or Garmin

After some delicious Moroccan Mint tea we headed outside to dip our toes in the Gulf

Then we took Mom and Dad inside so they could see the hotel

And my sweet kiddo who made me a mama was absolutely not into having her picture taken any more... but this perfectly captures her in so many ways! haha!

It was a wonderful day and I'm so glad Mom and Dad were here to spend it with us. Being overseas means that we miss holidays and special days together with our families a lot, so when we get the chance to spend time with them on one of those special days, it feels even more special!
